چکیده

Resection of soft tissue sarcoma the extremities may require vascular reconstructive surgery due to direct involvement or proximity tumor major structures. Autogenous conduit is preferred for reconstruction, but not always available. The purpose this study evaluate long term survivorship and outcomes in resection with explore utility prosthetic requiring reconstruction. This was a retrospective single-center review patients 18 years older undergoing without between 1990 2019. Data obtained from institutional Clinical Research Warehouse manual chart review. All had diagnosis sarcoma. Group I (30 patients) were involvement, II (15 included that did III required Excluded those other than resected at an outside hospital. primary outcome graft patency. Secondary overall survival, freedom amputation, amputation rate, wound healing, infection distal site recurrence. Sixty included. For autologous used two 13 patients. Prosthetic patency 92%, 77%, 50%, 45%, 27% 30 days, 6 months, 1 year, 2 years, respectively. Groups I, II, rates 0%, 7%, 20%, respectively (P = .033). 5-year survival 88%, 58%, .02) (Table). Trabectedin for Metastatic Soft Tissue Sarcoma: A Retrospective Single Center Analysis

Soft tissue sarcoma (STS) comprises a large variety of rare malignant tumors. Development of distant metastasis is frequent, even in patients undergoing initial curative surgery. Trabectedin, a tetrahydroisoquinoline alkaloid isolated from the Caribbean marine tunicate Ecteinascidia turbinata, was approved in 2007 for patients with advanced STS after failure of anthracyclines and ifosfamide, or...

Role of surgical resection in adult urological soft tissue sarcoma: 25-year experience.

INTRODUCTION As adult urological soft tissue sarcomas (STS) are rare, there have been few recent large-scale studies of these tumors. This report describes a single institutional experience of adult urological STS over 25 years. PATIENTS AND METHODS The study population consisted of 25 adult patients with histologically diagnosed STS arising in the urinary tract, male genital system, or retro...

Major wound complication risk factors following soft tissue sarcoma resection.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Wound-healing complications represent an important source of morbidity in patients treated surgically for soft tissue sarcomas (STS). The purpose of this study was to determine which factors are predictive of major wound complication rates following STS resection, including tumor site, size, grade, and depth, as well as radiotherapy and chemotherapy. METHODS We revie...

High-dose-rate brachytherapy for soft tissue sarcoma in children: a single institution experience

PURPOSE To report our experience treating soft tissue sarcoma (STS) with high dose rate brachytherapy alone (HBRT) or in combination with external beam radiotherapy (EBRT) in pediatric patients. METHODS AND MATERIALS Eighteen patients, median age 11 years (range 2 - 16 years) with grade 2-3 STS were treated with HBRT using Ir-192 in a interstitial (n = 14) or intracavitary implant (n = 4). Ei...
